Vice Presidential Haiku Game!

American History Y? announces it’s first (and likely only) poetry-themed contest. Be the first person to comment and correctly match each of the 10 haiku to the potential VP and win a free orange cream soda from Abitino’s at 41st and Broadway. * Second prize is a regular cream soda and a sense of personal satisfaction.

a) Silver-tongued bassist
Said no to evolution
And couldn’t raise cash.

b) Scots-Irish Marine
Might help win Virginia
but women can fight.

c) Perfect hair and teeth
Olympic-sized resumé
Redefined flip-flop.

d) Campaigned and cackled
To the bitterest of ends.
Enemy or friend?

e) Silver-haired leader
For better or, yes, for worse
Is no Hillary.

f) Two time candidate
Foreign policy guru
Has really big mouth.

g) Too old and too young
Quite the pair they would make
This immigrants’ son.

h) Senator Cardboard
Puts midwest red state in play?
Qualified, but dull.

i) Old standby for Veep
Might have helped in ‘84
But doesn’t like gays.

j) Says he’s blue collar
But can’t get wife to have sex
Loyal from the start.

    I presume that the prize is transferable, since nothing in the rules says otherwise. I don’t get up to NYC but a few times a year, so I will consider which of my associates in Manhattan would be most worthy and appropriate of the honor of an orange cream soda.
